About
Next to the Bellecote piste in Courchevel 1850, this hotel is ski-in, ski-out with an easy green run to the main ski lift station linking the resort with the Three Valleys ski area. It’s a short walk to the resort centre with its top-brand shops and pricey nightlife.
This chateau-style hotel reopened its doors after an ambitious and extensive project to dig out two additional underground levels, but the interiors of the lounges and public areas retain the same, discreet and cosy atmosphere. Parquet and grey-stone flooring on lower levels combine with solid, rustic-style oak framing Saint-Juste hand-blown glass panels in the lounges, which also have large fireplaces and armchairs. Picture windows overlook stone terraces with fire pits, though they were smothered deep in snow when we visited. A spectacularly knarled and twisted, 100-year-old Bonsai tree creates a focus in the lobby. Staircases and corridors on higher levels have an anonymous and discrete aura, no pictures, fawn carpets and lighter timber finishes.

This suite can also connect to a Chambre Village, offering a spacious two bedroom suite on a request basis.
Restaurants
New for the season is a Japanese-themed menu in the dining room. The idea is mix and match with sharing plates which includes a wide range of excellent starters: Gomaae, miso soup and sushi and so on, followed by more limited selection of main courses, including delicate Yasai Tempura or Token Wagyu sirloin. It may feel odd to be eating Japanese in a French ski resort, but the quality of cooking is hard to fault.
Breakfast is a selection of pastries, yoghurt, fruit, smoked salmon, cheese platters plus hot dishes (porridge, three-egg omelettes).
Amenities
The new piste-side ski room is wonderfully spacious staffed by a knowledgeable, uniformed team who offer an efficient service, helping you on and off with your boots and setting your skis out ready on the edge of the piste. Hot drinks and fresh cakes are available before and after you set out.
The new, Japanese-inspired and coolly minimalist Aman Spa has five double treatment rooms. A tranquil, bamboo-floored yoga room, fitness area and children’s playroom can be found on the same level as the long pool with hot tubs, hammam and sauna. Service seemed a little unsure but staff were having to cope with a few days of unfinished building work.
