Located on the island of Sumba, an hour’s flight from Bali, the hotel combines luxurious amenities with the opportunity to experience the well-preserved local culture and traditions of the island.
The hotel blends in with the exotic landscape, lives in symbiosis with the surrounding nature and the local community. Part of the profit goes to a local foundation to support local handicrafts.
Restaurants
The Nihiwatu has 4 restaurants and bars serving delicious Indonesian and international dishes. All products come from ecological gardens, fresh fish are caught every day so that guests can be surprised by freshness and new flavors every day.
The Ombak restaurant, located next to the beach, offers breakfast and dinner a’la carte. During the week, grilled dishes are served here.
Nio Beach Club just steps from the sea offers food, grilled fish and refreshing drinks. In the evenings, a cinema under the stars is organized here. On request, meals can be served in the rooms, in the form of a picnic or as a romantic dinner on a special platform installed on a tree, from which there is a picturesque view of the surrounding area.
Amenities
The resort consists of 28 luxurious villas surrounded by the jungle and the Indian Ocean, built in an island style with environmentally friendly materials.

The rooms have four-poster beds, private pools with a terrace and an outdoor dining area overlooking the garden and ocean. In the Mini Bar you will find handmade chocolate from the hotel’s Chris & Charly’s factory.
The hotel provides a wide range of activities: water sports, surfing, horseback riding, spear fishing, yoga, cooking course, all under the watchful eye of a professional instructor. The island also invites you to trekking, trips to local villages, picnics in the rice field or visiting the Chris & Charly’s chocolate factory among the Cocoa plantations.
Nihi Oka Spa offers unique outdoor treatments and yoga lessons, all away from civilization.
Yoga and wellness is an integral part of the NIHI Sumba experience. The design of our yoga pavilion reflects just that: a breathtaking platform set atop a cliff side ridge offers sweeping views of Nihiwatu Beach on the Indian Ocean. The schedule created by NIHI’s Resident Yoga Teacher caters to all levels, honoring limitations while also elevating each student their highest potential through an integrated journey of body, mind, and spirit.
Complimentary group classes are offered daily on the hilltop pavilion including Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation. Private bookings are also available in the privacy of guests villas or one of the awe-inspiring locations around the island.
