About
No news, no shoes’: that’s the only rule at Soneva Jani in the Maldives, though you could add ‘no blues’ to the formula, too. Actual blues abound, from sky to sea, in every conceivable hue and semi-hue of enticing aqua. Sibling to Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani does the family proud: its considerable lures include an overwater cinema, star-gazing observatory, meditative labyrinth , va-va-voom villas and the signature Soneva crowd-pleasers, including a lush, hushed spa, brilliant staff and So Cool ice-cream, cheese and chocolate rooms. This is the Maldives at its most magical.
Soneva Jani is one of those all too rare getaway destinations that must be seen to be believed. The resort sprawls over five dreamlike islands in the Maldives’ Medhufaru Lagoon. This remote and tranquil setting is just 40 minutes from Malé International Airport, with private seaplane transfers available to guests.
Clad in white-washed wood and muted colors, Soneva Jani is a resort that lets nature take center stage.

Restaurants
There are nine restaurant options and two bars. So Fresh, the main restaurant in The Gathering building, has sunken tables, chairs made from recycled glass, and overwater hammocks. Here you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner, either a buffet or à la carte. One of the highlights is the cold room with sashimi, cheese and charcuterie, and around the corner is So Cool, the homemade ice cream and chocolate room. Choose from different types of truffles ranging from wasabi to Nutella. The ice-cream flavours change often and include favourites like mango and Thai tea.
The Japanese restaurant, Director’s Cut, pairs fresh sashimi and chicken robata with an overwater movie; So Wild serves multi-course raw vegetable dishes by chef Diana Von Cranach; and So Primitive grills top-quality lamb and Maldivian lobster over an open flame. Overseas by Mathias Dahlgren offers seafood and plant-based dishes with Scandanavian flare, including an outstanding calamari with charcoal aioli.
Amenities
In the paradise setting of the Maldives, guests at Soneva Jani are spoiled for choice when it comes to activities. The resort offers a host of watersports and sailing opportunities, while diving with turtles, swimming with dolphins, or taking in a movie under the stars all come highly recommended. After all that activity make sure to visit Soneva Spa, where ancient rituals combine with cutting-edge treatments designed to soothe the stresses of our modern world.
